Top Spring Gutter Maintenance Tips From Experienced Gutter Cleaners in Treasure Valley

Posted on Feb 27 2023

Hey folks! Kelley and Gregg from Clearview Gutters in Nampa, ID. We are a gutter company serving the greater Treasure Valley area.

Spring is a beautiful time of year in Idaho, but it also brings rain showers that can cause issues with your gutters. If your gutters are clogged or damaged, water can overflow and cause damage to your roof, siding, and foundation. Here are some top tips for gutter maintenance in spring in Idaho to help prevent these issues.

Clean Your Gutters

The first step in gutter maintenance is to clean your gutters. Over time, debris like leaves, twigs, and dirt can build up in your gutters, blocking the flow of water. This can cause water to overflow and damage your home. To clean your gutters, start by removing any large debris by hand. Then, use a garden hose to flush out any remaining debris. Make sure to check the downspouts for clogs as well, and clear them out if necessary.

Inspect Your Gutters

Once your gutters are clean, it's important to inspect them for any damage. Look for cracks, rust spots, or sagging sections, as these can all affect the function of your gutters. If you notice any damage, it's important to address it as soon as possible to prevent further issues.

Repair or Replace Damaged Gutters

If you do notice damage to your gutters, it's important to repair or replace them. Cracks or rust spots can often be repaired with a waterproof sealant, but if your gutters are sagging or severely damaged, it may be necessary to replace them. Consider hiring a professional gutter installer to ensure that your new gutters are installed properly and will function well for years to come.

Install Gutter Guards

Another way to prevent debris from building up in your gutters is to install gutter guards. These are screens or covers that go over your gutters to prevent leaves, twigs, and other debris from entering. There are many different types of gutter guards available, so do your research to find the one that's right for your home.

Trim Trees Near Your Home

Trees near your home can drop leaves and other debris into your gutters, so it's important to keep them trimmed. This will not only help prevent gutter clogs, but it can also reduce the risk of damage to your home from falling branches during storms.

Check for Proper Drainage

Finally, it's important to make sure that your gutters are properly draining water away from your home. After a rainstorm, check your gutters and downspouts to ensure that water is flowing freely. If you notice any issues, such as water pooling around your foundation, it may be necessary to adjust the slope of your gutters or add additional downspouts.

In conclusion, maintaining your gutters is an important part of home maintenance, especially in spring in Idaho. By cleaning your gutters, inspecting them for damage, repairing or replacing damaged gutters, installing gutter guards, trimming trees near your home, and checking for proper drainage, you can help prevent issues with your gutters and protect your home from water damage. If you're not comfortable doing these tasks yourself, consider hiring a professional gutter cleaning or installation company to ensure that your gutters are in top shape.

Gutter Service FAQs

How often should I get my gutters cleaned?

We recommend cleaning your gutters twice per year… once in late autumn (after the bulk of the leaves have fallen) and again in late spring. Clear any debris from the roof valleys and gutter basins… and be sure to check the outlets that drain into the downspout pipes. This is the most common area for clogs to occur.

What is causing my gutter to start holding water?

The number one cause of standing water in the gutter basin is a clogged downspout. Regular cleanings can prevent this issue. Secondarily, homes can settle over time. Even if your installation was done correctly twenty years ago, and now they’re holding water and leaking, it could be because of the foundation settling and causing your gutters to not perform properly. We can fix slope problems.

Do you offer free estimate?

Yes, we offer dates and time windows of arrival to service any appointment of installation, repair, or cleaning. You can go to our “BOOK ONLINE” page to request a free estimate or call our office at 425-330-2300. We look forward to earning your business!

Does Clearview Gutters offer recurring maintenance?

In the Northwest you’re going to have a lot of home maintenance. We live in a damp environment that rains an average of 38 inches pear year. That’s a lot of water! We want to keep that water away from your foundation and crawl space. We have easily maintained recurring maintenance programs that can consist of roof blow offs, gutter cleaning and moss control to protect your roof and gutters. Proper maintenance can pay off and save you money.

When is it time to replace my gutters?

If your gutters are rusting out, leaking, or corroding they should have an estimator stop by to properly assess the problem areas and find if the gutters are able to be repaired or if you’ll need a partial replacement or a full replacement.

Is Clearview Gutters licensed, bonded and insured?

We are current with all legal obligations to perform work inside Idaho state.

I've used Clearview on two homes now and in each case the quality of the work was exceptional and they were extremely reliable. If you want your gutters done right the first time at a competitive price give them a call and let them do the work. I would recommend them to anyone.

Clearview Gutters are great to deal with! Fast response! Quality workmanship and very professional employer and employees! We have had numerous replacements done by Clearview Gutters due to the fact that some truck drivers don't look up when backing in to the bays. We appreciate this company and would highly recommend to anyone looking for quality work!

They cleaned up another company's mess. We had another company install gutters and they did such a poor job. When we complained they came and ripped everything down. Clearview Gutters worked with us on repairing the mess and installing new gutters. We were extremely pleased especially after the experience with the other company.

Prompt. Professional. Good job overall. I had gotten another estimate that was twice as high and told I needed to fix my gutters. Clearview gutters determined my gutters only needed to be cleaned - saving me $300.00. And with the recent rains, they seem to be just fine so I am very happy with my service.

We received a few bids on gutters for the house and shed and Clearview had the best pricing so we selected them to do the work. We met with Gregg to discuss our desires and received the estimate, which indicated white gutters as desired. When Gregg came out a few weeks later, we realized, about halfway through the work, that he was putting brown gutters on the house (brown was the color of the hou...

Gregg diagnosed the problem (gutter had been installed incorrectly, water couldn't drain properly. He had to order a special gutter to match the rest of the house. Called me when he was ready, and was able to schedule so I could keep dogs inside. Very happy!
